Study reports on retatrutide from two 2023 phase 2 papers

A short researcher note on what two published phase 2 trials reported about retatrutide, with study type and a limitation for each. No use guidance.

This note records published findings on retatrutide. It does not recommend use in people or animals.

Obesity trial (clinical)

Jastreboff and colleagues (2023) reported a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 2 trial in adults with obesity, or overweight with at least one weight-related condition, and without type 2 diabetes. The paper reported percent change in body weight at 24 weeks as the primary endpoint and also reported weight change at 48 weeks. Gastrointestinal events were among the adverse events described. Limitation: phase 2 size and follow-up do not establish longer-term outcomes, and this note does not restate dose groups.

Type 2 diabetes trial (clinical)

Rosenstock and colleagues (2023) reported a randomized, double-blind, placebo- and active-controlled phase 2 trial in adults with type 2 diabetes. Dulaglutide was the active comparator named in the paper. Reported endpoints included change in glycated haemoglobin and change in body weight; gastrointestinal events were among the adverse events listed. Limitation: selected phase 2 population and duration; measured trial endpoints are not a statement of indicated use.

No in vitro or animal-model papers are summarized here.
